Welcome!

Hello, I'm your friendly moderator [personal profile] ancientsavvy! I am the moderator of the community of the same name on LJ as well. I'm trying to think of any way we could leverage the searches previously done on the LJ community without the ability to import the existing LJ community into this one. If anyone has any ideas or is willing to help moderate this community, please let me know!

Hi! I'd love to keep helping moderate this community, especially after I get a DW user ID. :-) Thanks!

As for importing -- I know there's a way to import individual LJs, but I don't know if we can import a community. If nothing else, maybe we set up a post with all of the metadata previously collected, since some of the same stories get recc'd for each category?

Maybe run LJ-Backup on it? Either way it's going to require some work.

You can actually import communities to DW using LJSec. To me, the main issues are:
1. Some people may not want see their posts on another site.
2. When you import someone else's post, it is reposted under your username with "LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY xxx)" automatically added at the top of the entry. xxx will point to DW usernames even if they don't exist or the poster uses another username on DW.
